The short version
- We help owners sell their companies. That takes detailed, sensitive business information. We collect it because the work requires it.
- We use your information to advise you and run your sale. We do not sell it.
- Your business's data in the app is private to your workspace. The people you invite and the SSK team can see it.
- An outside advisor sees your data only if you choose to share your profile with them. You can stop sharing at any time.
- Buyers never get access to the app. They see only what you approve.
- You can ask to see, fix, or delete your information. Email info@ssk-us.com.
1. Who we are
SSK Capital is an independent M&A advisory firm based in St. Louis, Missouri. This policy covers our website, ssk-us.com, our client app, app.ssk-us.com, and our online business diagnostic. In this policy, "we" and "us" mean SSK Capital.
2. What we collect on the website
- Contact form. Your name, email, company, message, and phone number if you give one.
- Newsletter signup. Your email address.
- Technical details. Like every website, our servers see your IP address and browser type when you visit. We use your IP address briefly to block spam on our forms.
3. What we collect in the app
- Your account. Your name, email address, and the workspace you belong to.
- Your business information. Company details, financial statements, tax returns, forecasts, customer and supplier details, contracts, employee information, and any documents you upload.
- Your goals for a sale. Your timing, the price and terms you want, and your plans after the sale.
- Notes about your situation. You may tell us about personal matters that affect your plans, such as retirement, succession, or health. Our team may note them. Only SSK staff see these notes.
- Your conversations. Meeting transcripts you upload, and your chats with the SSK assistant. If you use voice dictation, we turn the audio into text and do not keep the recording.
- Public research. Information about your company from public sources, such as your website, news, government records, and patent filings.
- Market data. Comparable deals and industry figures from public sources and from data services we pay for.
- Security records. Sign-in activity and a record of changes made in your workspace.
4. What we collect in the business diagnostic
- We keep the answers from every completed diagnostic, even when you give no contact details. Those answers are kept without a name, so we can see where problems appear across the market.
- If you ask for a written read, we collect your name, company, title, email, and phone. We use them to send the read and set up a call. We then connect your answers to your request.
- We note the link or campaign that brought you to the page.
- We use a scrambled form of your IP address to block spam. We do not store your IP address.
5. Information about companies we may approach
We look for owners who may want to sell. To do that, we research companies from public sources and business directories. Advisors we work with may also tell us about owners they know. This can include an owner's name, work contact details, and details about the company. We may also estimate things like an owner's age from public records.
6. Why we need sensitive business information
Buyers want to know a company's revenue, profit, customers, contracts, people, and risks before they make an offer. We collect that information so we can value your business, get it ready for sale, and represent you to buyers. You decide what to share. The more complete it is, the better our advice.
7. How we use your information
- To value your business and prepare analysis and reports.
- To run your sale process, including materials for buyers you approve.
- To answer your questions and send you updates about your engagement.
- To send the Leadership Series newsletter, if you signed up. You can unsubscribe at any time.
- To check and improve our valuation methods, using results such as corrections you make and final sale terms.
- To keep the website and app secure and working.
- To meet our legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with anyone for their own marketing.
8. Who can see your information
- You and your team. People you invite to your workspace, such as your CFO, can see your business's data.
- SSK staff. The SSK Capital team can see and work on your business's data.
- Nobody else sees your chats. Your chats with the SSK assistant are private to you. No one else can read them, including SSK staff. Anything you save from a chat to your company record is shared like the rest of your data.
- Outside advisors you choose. You can share your company profile with an outside advisor, such as your accountant, attorney, or wealth advisor. This is always your choice. See the next section.
- Buyers you approve. Buyers never get access to the app. We share information with a buyer only with your approval, and normally only after they sign a confidentiality agreement. The first summary we send buyers does not name your company.
- Our service providers. Companies that run parts of the website and app for us. They may use your information only to provide their service to us. See section 10.
- When the law requires it. For example, to respond to a court order.
- If SSK changes hands. If SSK Capital merges or is sold, your information may move to the new owner under this same policy.
9. Sharing with an outside advisor
When you share your profile with an outside advisor, they see your company profile, your full financial detail, your analyses, and your documents.
- Nothing is shared until you approve it.
- An advisor can look but cannot change your data.
- You can stop sharing at any time, and the change takes effect right away.
10. Our service providers
We use outside companies to run the website and app. They may use your information only to provide their service to us. They provide:
- Hosting and storage for the website, the app, and the files you upload.
- Sign-in and account management.
- Email, including our company email and the emails the website and app send.
- AI services that read documents, research companies, and draft analysis.
- Web search and public records, which we search by company name.
- Customer relationship software, which helps our team keep track of conversations with owners.
- Web fonts. The font provider sees your IP address when a website page loads.
For a current list of the companies we use, email info@ssk-us.com.
11. How we use AI
AI helps us read documents, research companies, and draft analysis. We send information to AI providers only to get that work done. We use their paid business services, which do not use our data to train their models. Our team reviews materials before they go to buyers.
12. Connecting your own AI assistant
You can connect an assistant such as Claude or ChatGPT to your SSK account. We do not receive your conversations with that assistant. We receive only the requests it makes to SSK, and we log each one for security. The assistant's provider handles the information it receives under its own privacy policy.
13. Cookies
The website sets no cookies of its own. The app uses cookies from our sign-in provider to keep you signed in, and saves small settings in your browser, such as light or dark mode. Neither the website nor the app uses advertising or analytics trackers.
14. How we protect your information
- Information is encrypted as it travels over the internet. Our providers also encrypt it where they store it.
- Each business has its own private workspace. The app checks who you are and what you may see on every request.
- Staff access is limited to SSK Capital's own team.
- The app keeps a record of every change to your business's data, so we can see who changed what.
No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your information, we will tell you as the law requires.
15. How long we keep your information
- Website messages. As long as we need them to reply and stay in touch.
- Newsletter. Until you unsubscribe.
- App data. For as long as we work together, and after that for as long as we need it for legal, tax, and professional records.
- Documents and transcripts. You can remove one yourself in the app at any time. That deletes the file.
- Your account. If you close your account, we keep your name and email in our security records.
To delete your account or your business's data, email info@ssk-us.com. We will delete it unless the law requires us to keep it.
16. Your choices and rights
- Ask for a copy of your information.
- Ask us to fix information that is wrong.
- Ask us to delete your information.
- Stop sharing with an outside advisor.
- Unsubscribe from our newsletter.
Email info@ssk-us.com to make a request. We will not treat you differently for using these rights. Depending on where you live, you may have more rights under your state's law or under European privacy law. We honor those rights too.
17. Where we store information
We store and process information in the United States. If you contact us from another country, your information will be handled in the United States.
18. Children
Our website and app are for adults doing business. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
19. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. When we do, we will change the date at the top of this page. If a change is important, we will tell app users in the app or by email.
